The bicycle tour of Colorado returns for its 33rd year

The premier cycling tour of Colorado, Ride the Rockies is a seven-day ride that crisscrosses the Centennial state taking 2,000 riders over mountain passes and through beautiful valleys. This year’s ride will take place from June 9th to June 15th.

This year there are a few changes, one of which is very significant. Back in 1989 a lottery system was implemented to make the application process as fair as possible but this year the ride will return to a first come, first served system. The other big news this year is that 2018 is going to be a loop year which, among other things, is quite convenient for riders!

As for the route itself, that will be announced at an event on February 3rd at the Cable Center in Denver. Tickets for the event party are $35 online and $45 at the door. Get tickets here.

And what do you get for your money? Well, the event will be emceed by international cyclist and alpine racer Chris Anthony (to read more about Chris click here. There will also be high-end prize giveaways throughout the event and plenty of beer, wine and delicious food. The best part is that registration for RTR 2018 will open as soon as the route is announced meaning those in attendance get the opportunity to sign up then and there.

Registration fees for RTR 2018 are:

Tier #1: $525 for the 1st 500 cyclists

Tier #2: $575 for the 2nd 500 cyclists

Tier #3: $625 for the rest!

And Ride the Rockies isn’t just a fantastic ride through the beautiful scenery of Colorado, it is also a great fundraiser for various programs all over the state. An event of The Denver Post Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the ride has been generating funds since 2001, giving out over $585,000 in grants of$5,000 to deserving nonprofits that provide services for low-income children and youth through community programs that support recreation and/ or youth education in each Ride The Rockies host community.
