Year-round fun on and off the slopes of Aspen

As ski season comes to a close at the world-famous Colorado resort, exciting plans are already in place for spring and summer

This coming weekend will see Aspen Snowmass close its gondolas (although only temporarily) as ski season in Colorado comes to an end, and while it hasn't been the best ski season for Colorado generally, the resort is gearing up for a fantastic spring and summer with all kinds of events

The weekend party kicks off at Snowmass this Saturday from 11:30am – 3:30 pm with the Elk Camp Surf and Snow Beach Party. The party will have live music throughout the day from several DJs and will culminate in the swimsuit ski parade. Elsewhere, there will be hot tubs, drink specials, margarita bike blenders as well as raffles and giveaways. Wear your swim attire to be involved in an attempt at the North American Record for largest swimsuit ski parade. Gondola foot passes up to Elk Camp are free so you can join everyone else at Base Village at where the party will continue.

The following day at Snowmass Mountain, the weekend continues with the Smith Optics Grudge Match. On a specially constructed plaza-style terrain park, competitors will spin the “trick wheel” and everyone will have to try and perform that trick. A panel of celebrity judges will pick their favorites to determine a top eight for the final jam. The winner will take home $1,000 in cash and a pair of Smith I/O goggles. There will also be a DJ as well as food and drink specials.

Finally at Snowmass is the 10th annual Schneetag which invites teams of four to create a craft they will pilot down a slope and attempt to float across a pond. Each team will present a theme and perform a skit before they descend. Entry is free, but pre-registration online is required. Individual skiers and snowboarders are also invited to pond skim between the teams with the possibility of taking home prizes if the judges find the attempt entertaining.

Over at Aspen Mountain there is the 80'S Prom Party at the Sundeck that will feature crowning a prom King and Queen and popular Colorado 80's cover band, The Goonies. Between 11:30AM - 5:30PM there will also be a Mexican fiesta apres party at Ajax tavern called La Ultima Fiesta. There will be live music from Cabo San Lucas’ Mala Rumba, $4 draft beer, $8 wine by the glass and an $8 specialty cocktail. To read more, visit aspensnowmass.com
