Kit and Tim Kemp of British luxury boutique hotel chain Firmdale brought their style to New York in 2009, and it looks as good as ever.
With nine properties in London (five hotels, three townhouse hotels, and an apartment complex), a Caribbean hideaway, and, since February 2017, two properties in New York City.

The company made its first foray into New York back in 2009 with the opening of the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo, Lower Manhattan. The 86-room property is situated on a cobbled street and is surrounded by dozens of restaurants (including the fantastic hole-in-the-wall Prince Street Pizza) and bars. Taking up 11 floors, the contemporary interior was designed by co-founder and interior design Kit Kemp.

All 86 rooms and suites (across 13 rooms types) at the Crosby have floor-to-ceiling warehouse-style windows, with the upper floors having spectacular views across lower Manhattan.

As for the rest of the property, there is the Crosby Bar, which stretches the length of a very narrow New York City block to Lafayette Street, has high ceilings and a long pewter bar with grey oak floors and, as the rooms, warehouse-style windows. It includes a leafy garden, which is perfect for hot and humid New York summers. It is open all day for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner or coffee, cocktails and afternoon tea.

There is also a guest drawing room (with an honesty bar), and a fully equipped gym, but perhaps the most unique selling point of the Crosby is its screening room. The state-of-the-art room has 99 seats and is adjacent to three private meeting rooms., and regularly hosts media events and screenings of all kinds.
