In keeping with the decadent and luxurious style of the hotel, Auberge Spa in Aspen at Hotel Jerome is a quaint haven right in the heart of Aspen, Colorado. We booked in for the 80-minute Sanctuary of the Mountains body treatment during a recent visit to the resort town and quickly discovered that size isn’t everything.
After a quick check-in and a cursory glance at the gift shop, we headed to the locker room to prep for our treatments. Suitably attired in glittery flip flops (a nice change from the clunky plastic shoes that you sometimes find at even high-end spas), we retired to the relaxation room to await our therapists (nearly dozing off as we did, it was so tranquil). To aid the relaxation process, there is a selection of wines available for purchase should you wish to further your relaxation pre or post treatment.
The appropriately named Sanctuary of the Mountains treatment is a full-body massage combined with a hand and foot exfoliation. A native-inspired exfoliant of oatmeal, corn meal and clay purifies hands and feet before a healing balm of arnica, white willow and calendula is applied. This is followed by a soothing evergreen forest massage. The oil, which is delivered in long, light strokes, calms the mind and is said to restore energy.
Thoroughly relaxed by the lightly scented oil and the deft and gently massage, the 80-minute treatment flies by. Treatment over, it makes sense to continue the relaxation back in your room where movies and the complimentary mini bar were waiting.
