At Ladybird of Leisure we live to travel. Whether it is a world-class ski resort (such as Fairmont’s Franz Klammer Lodge) or a postcard perfect beach (read about our visit to the Maldives here), we love to indulge ourselves from time to time.
But travelling can take its toll on both mind and body, so keeping fit on the road is essential to make sure you have the stamina to take advantage of your destination, whether that is jet blading or snowboarding. Westin are one of the many hospitality brands that understand just how important it is to stay fit on the road.
For the past five years Westin has been advocating a balance between well-being and traveling, starting with the launch of the Westin’s Gear Lending program which allows guests to borrow New Balance shoes and workout attire to use for sweat sessions during their stay. A more recent wellness campaign involves a partnership with Fitbit.
Fitstar by Fitbit is a platform that delivers adaptive, video-based online exercise experiences. The collaboration offers hotel guests the chance to stay fit while on the road by offering a complimentary 30-day trial to the FitStar Personal Trainer app and access to the “Stay Fit with Westin” routine which includes moves like elbow planks, floor bridges, and alternating knee raises. Designed for tighter workout spaces (like hotel rooms) the routine has been designed to help relieve common ailments suffered by travellers – such as tight hips and sore backs – while building core strength and stretching tired limbs. The FitStar app has a range of bodyweight exercises (meaning no equipment is necessary) which are perfect for those on the go.
Nearly 200 Westin locations around the world also feature runWESTIN Concierges, which encourage runners of all levels to hit the pavement with scenic routes through cities, along beachfronts and amid rural landscapes. For inclement weather, Westin has fitness studios which feature exercise equipment from world-class brands in open, airy and well-designed spaces.
The FitStar Personal Trainer app trial is available until June 30, 2016 for all hotel guests. Guests will receive redemption details during their stay and the free 30-day trial can be activated at any point during the six-month eligibility period.
