They say your face tells all. Emotions, health, stress, how many vodka martinis you had last night…
Your face, and all its nuanced features, wrinkles and micro expressions, is out there for the whole world to see, and for some to read. Face readers factor everything in and claim to be able to analyze the person behind the face and reveal things about your personality as well as your health and even your destiny.
We were intrigued when we heard that about face reader Eric Standop, so we couldn't pass up the chance for a one on one with him and hear what he had to say. Eric trained under one of the last remaining face-reading masters in Europe and has studied the Chinese version of face reading, called Mian Xiang, as well as the ancient Greek techniques of physiognomy. He has been reading faces for about nine years.
He started by explaining what face reading is and why it is important. To start, our faces reveal much more about a person than emotions. Facial diagnosis is used to help the reader get a sense of the person's ailments and health concerns. It dates back to 460 BC to when Hippocrates used it as a means of detecting disease. Siang Mien, an ancient technique that has been used in the East for centuries helps uncover disease as well as well as personality and character traits, while physiognomy helps face readers discover hidden talents. We won’t delve into all details of our reading, but we were captivated throughout the analysis.
For those interested in learning more about face reading or having a reading, Eric will be town from March 4 to March 6 at the Mandarin Oriental Spa. The consultation is priced at MOP 1,500 for one theme/60 minutes, MOP 2,000 for two themes/75 minutes and MOP 2,500 for three themes/90 minutes. Guests can also sign up for the seminar, priced at MOP 550 per person/hour where Eric will teach the basic techniques of face reading.
Eric will also be visiting the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong in February.
