A European Christmas in Macau

If you’re looking for a bit of Continental flair to your holiday meal, there are plenty of options in Macau. To that end, we have rounded up the dining options at a few of our favorite French and Italian restaurants across the city. A Festive French Fête

The Ritz-Carlton Café

The Ritz-Carlton Café’s free-flow Champagne, live entertainment and lucky draw make the Christmas and New Year’s Day brunches standout. There is also a festive dinner menu on offer where guests can indulge in a six-course set menu with wine pairing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On New Year’s Eve the same menu comes with free-flow Champagne, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Santé!

Aux Beaux Arts

French restaurant Aux Beaux Arts in the MGM is offering a set dinner menu which includes foie gras and chicken terrine, pan-fried John Dory fillet, and Bûche de Noël with Christmas cake and white truffle ice-cream. Request to sit ‘al fresco’ to take in the tasteful holiday decorations in the Grande Praça.

Privé

Another French feast can be found at Sofitel’s Privé. Chef Jean-Francois Nulli will treat guests to a creative and dynamic French Christmas set dinner.

Dec. 24 and 25 starting from MOP$588+

Indulge in a two Michelin-starred meal in the City of Dreams at The Tasting Room which will include a selection of signature dishes using foie gras, truffle, lobster and caviar. Some of the dishes on offer include poached lobster with Champagne sauce; slow-cooked duck with pear cooked in red wine, aubergine caviar and gnocchi; and red mullet with bread skin, saffron sauce, courgette and piperade (a Basque dish of sautéed onion, green peppers, and tomatoes with red Espelette pepper).

Feasts of Natale

Ristorante il Teatro

A four-course dinner will please both meat lovers and vegetarians. Ask to be seated so you can fully enjoy the very Las Vegas-style performance lake and the regular shows every 15 minutes. Dishes include Maine lobster, black truffle salad, porcini and pumpkin soup, cold-smoked Arctic Char, Dungeness crab ravioli and artichoke. There will also be a five-course set dinner menu offered on New Year’s Eve.

8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA

The Michelin one-starred 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA Macau will offer the best of Italy with traditional Italian dishes made with seasonal ingredients. The seven-course Christmas Eve dinner menu includes king crab, blue lobster, white truffle tagliolini, black truffle Christmas broth, Mayura Beef M9 sirloin, winter berries, and Sambirano Chocolate with traditional panettone. The king crab, black truffle broth, Mayura Beef and Panettone are also available on the five-course festive lunch.

The New Year’s Eve dinner is an eight-course menu including confit abalone carpaccio, roasted lobster, white truffle Acquerello risotto, black truffle Chapon De Bresse consomme, wild turbot, Mayura Beef M9 Sirloin, citrus and hazelnut gianduja and Panettone. For New Year’s Eve and Day lunch there will be abalone carpaccio, the Chapon De Bresse consomme, Mayura beef and traditional panettone.

Bene

Italian Restaurant Bene at the Sheraton will turn into a buffet of sorts where guests will be able to enjoy seafood on ice, several pasta dishes (including truffle, ricotta, spinach, and egg yolk ravioli) as well as Iberico lamb with artichoke risotto, pigeon breast casserole, and panettone.

Dec. 24, 25 and 31 for lunch and dinner buffet

Terrazza

The newly awarded Michelin one-star restaurant will be serving a modern take on the traditional Italian Christmas menu. The five-course dinner menu includes warm chanterelles and black mushroom, egg and black truffle salad; beef ravioli with spicy tomato sauce, eggplant, broccoli and pecorino; deep-fried eel with bell pepper and onion and black olives; and a selection of homemade pastries.

On New Year’s Eve the five-course dinner menu will include gratinated scallops with Cothecchino sausage, chili and parsley bread; lobster and lentil rigatoni; sea bream with black olives and potatoes; beef Rossini tenderloin with foie gras and spinach; and pistachio tart with vanilla ice cream.
