A Seafood Feast at Feast

Sashimi, sushi, oysters, crab, lobster - seafood is pretty much the norm at buffet restaurants here in Macau but you would be hard pressed to find one that stands up to the latest promotion at Sheraton’s buffet restaurant Feast. (We’re told there are more than 40 varieties of seafood on offer.)

Start off with a plate of oysters. We love the crisp and fruity flavour of Fine de Claire oysters however the Coffin Bay and Tasmanian Bistro oysters from Australia are good too, with both having just the right amount of sweetness. There is, of course, a good selection of sushi and sashimi which includes salmon, hamachi and maguro.

After teasing your palate, it is time to get a bit messier with the seafood on ice. Lobster, crab, prawns, mussels, scallops and a variety of other shellfish are stacked in piles and invite you to indulge. If you prefer your seafood hot, there are a few items in steaming baskets, including lobster claws, razor clams and king crab legs.

Next up are some bone fide dishes. The ever popular clams with white wine are here, as are a variety of dishes utilizing the great seafood to good effect such as Japanese scallops with Macanese shrimp paste, seafood cataplana, grilled octopus with potatoes and garlic as well as the frankly incredible looking entire roasted salmon fillet with teriyake glaze and siricha mayonnaise.

Of course not everyone can eat shellfish (we really feel for these poor souls), but don’t despair there is still plenty to be had. There is, for example, a station that cooks steak to order. An impressive slab of beef sirloin sits waiting to be sliced into portions as big as you dare eat before being cooked to your liking (we strongly advise you against asking for well-done steak as that would be a crime against food). For those who can’t wait there is a prime rib carving station, some delicious Indian dishes as well as more salads that you will be able to try in a single visit. There is also a new Beijing roasted duck station as well as a noodle station.

Thankfully, the seafood theme doesn’t extend to the desserts. Apart from ice cream and some delicious cakes (including cheesecake and caramel apple cake), our inner child loved the jars of candy – particularly the jellybeans!

There is also the option to add free-flow drinks which includes Champagne and rosé wine for MOP198+.

For families there is a kids’ corner, which has games, toys and movies to keep them occupied while you eat.

The seafood buffet is offered every Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. It is priced at MOP398+ for adults and MOP200+ for children. Some of the seafood items will be subject to availability.
