A Magical Duo at Studio City Macau

Both The House of Magic and Shanghai Magic officially opened yesterday at Macau’s newest resort complex, Studio City and offer fans of trickery a few hours of fun and fine dining.
Designed by American illusionist Franz Harary, The House of Magic will invite magicians from around the world for 3-4 month residencies (although some may be shorter) which will hopefully keep the shows fresh and encourage people to come back again and again. Harary’s main act will be the only permanent fixture.
As for the experience itself, guests visit two separate acts in the Majestic Theater and Lair Theater which are small and intimate and offer great views of the action or everyone. The third theater, the Mega Magic Theater, has a larger capacity but it also allows everyone to get a close and intimate experience.
Magicians currently on rotation are Danny Cole (until Feb. 1, 2016), Kyle Knight and Mistie (until Feb. 4) and Luis de Matos (until Feb. 11). Following them in 2016 will be Michael Turco (Jan. 1 until Jan. 31), Raymond Crowe (Feb. 5 until May 4), Kalin and Jinger (Feb. 12 until May 10), Timo Marc (May 11 until Aug. 10), Marco Zoppi (May 5 until Aug. 4) and Shin Lim (Aug. 5 until Nov. 11)
Shows are Monday to Friday at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm, Saturday and Sunday at 3pm, 5pm, 7pm and 9pm and last approximately 90 minutes

Just around the corner is Shanghai Magic, Studio City’s magic-themed Chinese restaurant. Designed to complement The House of Magic the interior mimics the theatre and the staff even perform various tableside magic tricks. The restaurant has a few other tricks up its sleeve too (we won’t give away any secrets though!).
Chef de Cuisine Wilson Fam serves up the restaurant’s signature dishes, including steamed hot and sour Shanghainese pork dumplings with crab meat, hot and sour crab meat soup, and stewed Shanghainese-style pork belly with steamed and fried sweet buns. At the tender age of 30, Fam is the youngest Chef de Cuisine in Melco Crown’s culinary lineup. The young chef played an instrumental role in helping Jade Dragon at City of Dreams win its Michelin stars.
Open from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for dinner.
