Studio City, the Hollywood-inspired mega resort, officially opened its doors to the public yesterday in spectacular fashion when it brought Hollywood royalty to the Cotai Strip.

The red carpet event that preceded the Grand Opening saw legendary director Martin Scorsese, double Oscar winner Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brett Ratner in attendance for a screening of “The Audition,” Scorsese’s short film that is essentially an ad for Studio City.
The screening was part of the ostentatious Grand Opening Event that also saw stars of stage and screen from Hong Kong, including Aaron Kwok and Korean girlband Sistar.
The resort offers a bevy of entertainment options away from the gaming floor, including Franz Harary’s The House of Magic and a Batman-themed 4D flight simulator called Batman Dark Flight. There is also the 40,000-square-foot family entertainment center Warner Bros. Fun Zone and European-style nightclub Pacha Macau for the grownups.
Accommodation is spread across two towers. Celebrity Tower offers four-star rooms and Star Tower offers over 600 five-star suites which come with access to Star Club, an exclusive lounge. There is also the standard indoor and outdoor pools and Zensa Spa.
Dining options include Trattoria il Mulino, Cosmos Food Station, Shanghai Magic and Gourmet Walk, a food court that mimicks Rua da Felicidade (Happiness Street) in Macau, to name a few. Macaron aficionados will already know that a Pierre Hermé shop has taken up residence in the resort, and we can honestly say they have the best macarons we’ve ever had (more to come on that). It was also announced recently that Alain Ducasse and Alain Wong will open restaurants in Studio City next year.

For fashionistas, The Boulevard at Studio City offers a collection of mid- to high-end fashion outlets including Coach, Kate Spade, Tom Ford, and Valentino as well as the collection of de rigueur watch and jewelry shops.
Following hot on the heels of Studio City will be St. Regis Macao, which is set to open in December.
