Wine Days at Sofitel Macau

Being almost 10,000 kilometers away from France, it’s very easy to forget just how seriously they take their wine. Right now the annual grape harvest has started and it is a time of celebration. Thankfully French brand Sofitel is here to remind us (and supply us with an excuse to indulge in a few glasses of wine on a weekday).
At Sofitel Macau, Enrico Bernardo, an award-winning sommelier, launched the company’s promotion to bring a little bit of this celebration to Macau: 2015 Sofitel Wine Days. Available until the end of October, Sofitel is offering a handful of ways you can participate, albeit from a distance, in this annual ritual.
For those looking for whole bottles, Rendezvous is offering a selection of wines at considerable discounts (up to 65 percent in some cases). Mistral is also offering discounted wine, which guests can consume on the premises or take home. The main producers available include: E. Guigal from the Rhone Valley, Maison Trimbac from Alsace, Maison Louis Jadot from Burgundy and Henri Bourgeois from Sancerre.
While you’re at the restaurant, it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity to indulge in dozens of gourmet cheese and charcuterie. For an additional MOP188+ the impressive selection of cheese and meat can be added to the dinner buffet. Among the dozen or so on offer are Beaufort, Cantal, Comte and Brie de Meaux. If you have a particular fondness for cheese, this is somewhat of a bargain as there is quite possibly not a better selection available in Macau right now. The dinner buffet is offered from 6pm to 10:30pm.
IF you are interested in pairing French wines with Cantonese cuisine, Le Chinois on the 18th floor offers a wine pairing option (MOP388+ per person) for tables of ten guests. For a more authentic French experience there is Privé where a curated selection of wines from Bordeaux producer Maison Kressmann is available.
