The 29th Macau International Music Festival (MIMF), which kicked off on October 4th, will see 23 performances take place throughout the city before it wraps up on November 1st. The opening ceremony started with a performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
With “Soundmazing” as the theme for the festival, MINF will include performances from a wide range of musicians and style from across the world, including the famed BBC Philharmonic from the UK.
Other performances include Icelandic musician Ólafur Arnalds, Swedish mezzo-soprano Charlotte Hellenkant in a concert entitled Northern Lights, all-male American choir Chanticleer will give concerts called “Over the Moon” and “Washing of the Water,” the Great Ladies of Song will pay tribute to jazz legend Billie Holiday; and many other international and local artists. Then there is Bravo Macao that will showcase local talent when students Sophia Feinga Su, Hugo Loi, Ray Long and Katy Ho take to the stage. There will also be workshops, classes, and other outreach activities for local music lovers.
The closing performance of MIMF will be Charles Gounod’s Faust.
