Looking for the best Thai in Macau? We roundup three of our favorites.
Saffron

Offering the most luxurious setting of the three restaurants in our roundup, the décor at Saffron is composed of natural materials, including intricate wooden latticework, which gives the restaurant a relaxing vibe. The dining area isn’t too large and tables are spaced far enough apart to allow for an intimate meal. The menu is vast and offers plenty for meat lovers, pescetarians and vegetarians. Standout dishes for us were the Pomelo salad with fried crab meat, ground peanuts and roasted chili dressing; the green curry with braised chicken, apple, aubergine and rice noodles; the classic tom yum goong; and mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream.
Good for: Upscale dining or business meetings or intimate dinners.
Details: Open from 7am to 11pm

NAAM

Tucked away in a peaceful nook on the Macau peninsula, the quaint Thai restaurant takes up residence in the annex of the Grand Lapa and offers fantastic cuisine in beautiful surroundings. While the indoor seating area is just as lovely, the outdoor patio that overlooks the pool offers a great spot for enjoying the nice weather, particularly as temperatures continue to drop. Standout dishes include Thai prawn carpaccio with lime and chili relish; chicken massaman curry; stir-fried lobster in red curry; and baked coconut taro cake.
Good for: A peaceful and romantic dinner
Details: Open Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 2:30pm for lunch and 6:30pm to 10:30pm for dinner

Mezza9

Not strictly a Thai restaurant, Mezza9 actually offers a wide variety of cuisines, but on the night we visited we tried several dishes from Chef “Mum” (a nickname the Thai chef was given thanks to her warm and welcoming demeanor). We love Mezza9 as it offers guests the chance to order from several different cuisines (but remember it isn’t a buffet restaurant, they just have several small kitchens). While we would never recommend skipping an amazing Thai dessert, we simply cannot resist crème brulée, and Mezza 9’s in pretty, pretty good. Standout dishes include prawn cakes with sweet and sour sauce; tom kha gai soup; sliced wagyu beef in Panaeng curry; and chocolate chilli tart with coconut ice cream (and the crème brulée obviously).
Good for: Large groups, especially for birthday celebrations
Details: Open from 5:30pm to 11pm
