If you’ve read our latest fashion article about fast fashion giant H&M, you already know about the brand’s “Close the Loop” initiative. Designed to keep textiles out of landfills, the collection transforms old garments into new textile fibers from your old clothes (ever noticed those big green bins near the cash registers?). The “new” fibers are then used to make H&M’s Conscious denim collection. Watch the video for more information.

The company has recently announced their latest endeavour to make the fashion industry more sustainable. Their Global Change Award, launched by the company’s H&M Conscious Foundation, aims to find individuals with ideas about changing the way the fashion industry works, from design, production, shipping, purchasing and recycling. The company will choose five winners of the inaugural award. Read more here.

An eight-person panel (including Mr. Ellis Rubinstein, the president and CEO of The New York Academy of Sciences and Ms. Franca Sozzani, the editor in chief of Vogue Italia) will choose the five winners who will share a one million euro grant (half of which will be divided equally between them, while the other half will be distributed among the winners according to the results of an online vote). Winners also gain access to a experts who will give them the support.

Know anybody who fits the bill? Or perhaps you have an idea that could bring some big change to the fashion industry. Read more about the challenge here.

Applications close October 31st.
