Dior's Fall / Winter 2015 Cosmopolite Collection

“Cosmopolite,” Dior’s Autumn / Winter 2015 collection, is said to celebrate the epitome of The Dior Woman: free and irresistible; fascinating and versatile. “The Dior woman is mysterious. Playful and seductive, carefree and distinguished, intriguing and adventurous all rolled into one,” said Peter Philip, the brand’s creative and image director.

That certainly is a lot of adjectives, and if the collection offers a similar amount of versatility, we will be very happy.

The collection highlights metallics and shine, with nudes, bolds and brights also present. “From the most natural to the most sophisticated makeup, from the most discreet to the most colorful looks” is how Dior puts it.

Eyes & Brows

The Dior Addict Fluid Shadow is long-lasting (straight from the office to after-work drinks without so much as a touch up? Yes please!) and lightweight. It glides on effortlessly and stays put. When applying, be sure to wipe off excess product to avoid coverage that is too heavy. There are six shades: silver shade Magnetic; pink/purple shade Cosmic; yellow-gold shade Phénix; light brown shade Univers; pale pink Aurora; and red shade Destinée.

Other options for the eyes are the the two 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite palettes in Exubérante and Eclectic. The four outer colors ( which are denim blue, amber beige, light pink and deep burgundy/brown) in Exubérante compliment the gold shadow in the center, while the colors (moss green, frosted brown and two burgundy shades) in Eclectic complement the central silver shade. The varying shades in both palettes compliment any eye color whether light or dark; however we like Eclectic for hazel and green eyes and Exubérante for brown and blue eyes.

Thanks to Benefit’s Brow Zings, we tend to go for powder brow kits these days, but Dior’s powder eyebrow pencil, Sourcils Poudre, is making us think twice. The formula combines the definition of a wax with the finish of a powder. There are six shades including two ash shades which are great for blonde and light brown tones. For evenings, try one shade darker than your brows to make them more dramatic and defined.

Another dose of shine is supplied by the Dior Vernis in Mirror, a reflective, silver polish that “is extremely tricky to obtain in a varnish.” Obtain it does however, and with just a single swipe of the perfectly curved brush (Dior’s polish brushes are our favorites hands down). Other shades include Métropolis, a khaki shade; Cosmopolite, a rosewood shade; the navy Darling Blue; and a dark shade called Black Out.

For lips, the collection offers four shades of Dior Addict Fluid Stick and four shades of Rouge Dior. Elegant shades in the Dior Addict collection include peony pink shade Versatile; bright red Métamorphose; taupe brown Avant-Garde; pink/red shade Chic. The Contemporary shades of Rouge Dior are designed to balance out and enhance the mirror effect of the Dior Addict Fluid Shadow. We love the neutral nude shade Voyageuse. There is also pink shade Nouvelle Femme; rosewood Continental; and deep Rencontre.

Face

Diorblush Cheek Stick shades in the Cosmopolite collection include Cosmopolite Coral, Cosmopolite Rosewood and Cosmopolite Pink. The consistency is creamy and the stick makes application a breeze, whether highlighting the cheekbones, creating a sculpting effect or just adding a touch of color.
