Wine, Dine, and Be Social

Alibi, the new restaurant and bar located at the Langham Place in Mong Kok, hosted a fantastic opening party last night. In an attempt to show a visiting family member a good time while in Hong Kong for the day, we jumped in a taxi to head across the harbor and check it out.
When we walked into Langham Place, we immediately heard the music floating down from Alibi which is located on the fifth floor above.
Within mere seconds of walking into the bar, we were sipping our first (of many) glasses of champagne for the evening as the friendly and energetic staff informed us of all the treats on offer that evening.

The area has a very indulstial chic vibe to it, with 140 yellow, grey and blue tweed coverd chairs, as well as a bar area that affords guests a view of the lobby below.
To the left of the bar was an oyster station where chefs shucked and prepared a plate of the delacy for you on order, and to the right was a large chunk of ice the bartenders chissled away at to chill our gin and tonics which were garnished with juniper berries and rose buds.
As you walk past the bar, a copoius amoung of wine and beer was presented on a table, next to an assortment of canapes including garlic olives, salami and a variety of cheeses. The incredibly attentive servers sashayed around the large room offering up delights that included seared prime beef with watermelon; cheese fritters; lardo di colonnata; mini rib sliders. Various cooking stations offered: cheese toasties with either truffle or kimchi; pork bao; and steamed chocolate cake which was wrapped in a lotus leaf and topped with banana and caramel.
And of course there was the champagne and wine that seemed to magically find its way into my glass after every few sips.
Mong Kok isn't exactly known as a place to head for a trendy night out, but I'm more than convinced that Langham's Place's new bar Alibi will quickly be changing that. I know that this defintely won't be the last time I'll be bringing visitors to Alibi to wine, dine, and be social.
Open from 8am to 1am Monday to Thursday and 8am to 2am Friday to Sunday
