On May 27th, the already expansive Galaxy will launch its newest phase, more than doubling its size to over a million square meters.
Included in the spring opening will be three new hotels: the Ritz-Carlton, the JW Marriott and the Broadway Hotel. This will be the Ritz Carlton’s first all-suite hotel, offering about 250 well-appointed rooms. The JW Marriott will offer over 1,000 rooms and the Broadway Hotel will have 320 rooms.

As with Melco Crown’s new venture Studio City (read more here) pressure to offer tourists an array of attractions away from gambling was put on the Galaxy Entertainment Group as well. Vice-Chairman of the group, Francis Lui, says “Since we founded Galaxy Entertainment Group, our vision has been closely aligned with that of the Macau SAR Government. We have always done our utmost to bring tremendous new offerings to the market – to attract more tourists, give them reasons to stay longer, enjoy spending more with the diversified attractions Macau has to offer and contribute to a strong economy for current and future generations.”
Although it will be hard to top the exciting activities and events that will be offered at Studio City, the new phase will include a few attractions that are sure to entice tourists, including “skytop adventure rapids” - a river ride that is nearly 600 meters long. The newly expanded Grand Resort Deck already features a wave pool (the world’s largest skytop wave pool) as well as a 2,000-square-meter white sand beach and private cabanas.

The new Promenade shopping district will feature over 200 luxury and lifestyle retail brands including H&M, Alexander Wang, Moncler and Burberry over 120 food and beverage outlets.
Hotel restaurants include Fook Lam Moon, Lai Heen and 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana (from Michelin-starred chef Umberto Bombana).
Across the street and connected to the Galaxy by a pedestrian bridge will be the Broadway, featuring a 3,000-seat performance theater, street vendors offering local cuisine, live entertainment and a hotel and casino.
After the unveiling of the new phase, the Galaxy will be home to six hotels offering around 4,000 rooms, two spas and hundreds of restaurants and retail shops.
