The winter season is in full swing, and although we may not need to bundle up in our warmest garb like our neighbors to the north, the cold, dry northerly Siberian winds that find their way to Macau can be detrimental to supple smooth skin. We’ve rounded up five great products to help protect skin from the (slightly) harsh Macao winter and help you make 2015 the year you start fighting back against Mother Nature.

Forget a whole year, Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream (MOP570) can correct key aging signs in just two weeks. Made from a combination of beech tree extract, fragmented hyaluronic acid and jasmonic acid, this creamy, non-sticky formula lifts and firms the skin. After a few too many glasses of mulled wine over Christmas, which resulted in a few skipped moisturizing sessions, our skin is screaming out for this stuff.

Pollution is an ongoing battle for skin in this part of the world. Tack on stress, UV rays and fatigue, and it seems like a hopeless battle. Clarins comes to the rescue with their Multi-Active Day early wrinkle correction cream (MOP580). Great for all skin types, this age-defying potion combines the magic of plant extracts which provide vital moisture and nutrients to help prevent those pesky lines before they even start forming.

Oh-so-elegant Dior has just launched Capture Totale le Sérum (MOP1,625). Designed to restore youthful contours with intense plumping action, they claim that with each application said contours are made more profound and skin is given a dose of deep “plumping” action. The texture is similar to a lightweight moisturizer, making application easy and mess-free. If the hefty price tag reflects its sculpting power, this should be an incredible product.

We love the thought of a daily facial - but who can afford the time and money that goes into them? Thankfully Lancôme’s newest creation combines a two-fold approach in their Rénergie French Lift (MOP950). The firming action of a moisturizer is joined by the tightening benefits of a massage. The included massage disk is used to perform a series of motions to massage the face, which is followed by a nightly application of the balm that contains skin tighening ingredients and a mixture of waxes and nourishing oils to leave skin feeling satiny smooth as well as firm and contoured. We're already rejoicing at the idea of (free) nightly massages in the comfort out our own bathrooms.

Having been a huge fan of Amala products (read our review here), it wasn’t until a recent facial at Six Senses Spa in the MGM that we fell in love with Amala’s Hydrating Yogurt Mask (MOP750). A combination of jasmine, macadamia and wild rose make this creamy mask a soothing tonic for dry skin which should be used two to three times a week to promote cell renewal and radiant skin. The mask left my dry and sensitive skin feeling hydrated for days following the facial.
