French luxury hotel brand Sofitel is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with A Magnifique Journey, a theatrical performance that celebrates not only their anniversary, but also the one formed between China and France 50 years ago. A Magnifique Journey will tour mainland China before arriving at Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 on November 25th.

The 45-minute show includes song and dance acts performed by Lou Wong (French-Chinese singer and actress) and Anthony Esteve-Chuecos (Parisian dancer and actor) as they transport the audience through the two countries over the past five decades. The first scene is set in 1960’s France at a sidewalk café, before it moves to present day China, where the finale of the show takes place.

Guests can expect a range of acts, from jazz and ballet to tango and tai chi, which are set to an eclectic selection of songs including Edith Piaf's “La Vie en Rose” and music from YoYo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. Michel Molliet, vice president of Sofitel Greater China, expressed his views on the event: “We have created something even more ambitious for this dual golden anniversary of Sofitel’s founding and the establishment of formal cultural links between France and China,” he said. “Our guests have come to expect a culturally enriching experience when they stay in one of our hotels, and I am confident that this Magnifique Journey will more than live up to expectations."

The show kicked off on November 4th at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, and is currently making its way around other Sofitel locations, icluding Nanjing, Shanghai, Xian, Jinan, Chongqing and Chengdu. The event in Macau on the 25th will be the final performance.

The guest list for the celebration includes Sofitel guests, partners and loyalty members as well as members of the public. Be sure to check Sofitel Macau’s Facebook page for a chance to attend the event.
