Mother Nature Provides Purity

It’s all too often we are concerned about what we put in our bodies and not on them. Although cleansing from within is a great place to start for clear, subtle skin, don’t underestimate the power of your daily skin regimen. For best results, skip harsh, chemical-laden formulas and opt for plant-based products instead.

Launched last year, the Brighten collection from German luxury skincare brand Amala uses the powerful antioxidant properties of the narcissus and other botanicals to prevent and correct dark spots along with dull and uneven skin. Amala’s products contain only organic, sustainably-grown ingredients that have been sourced from fair trade farmers and are never tested on animals.

The six products in the brightening regimen work together in four steps. The first step is to cleanse and tone using Amala cleanser followed by brightening toning essence. The next step is to apply a radiance-boosting brightening corrective concentrate, which should be pressed into the skin. The third step involves applying either a brightening treatment cream or a more lightweight emulsion, which also erases dark spots while hydrating the skin. The above routine should be repeated morning and night. The fourth and final step, the intensive radiance ritual, should be performed twice weekly. A brightening face polish is used as an exfoliant, which is followed by the the intensive brightening mask which helps to brightening the skin.

The cleanser is very light and gentle, and the corrective gel-like concentrate wasn’t sticky and was quickly absorbed into the skin in a matte finish. The treatment cream, although not as lightweight as the emulsion, wasn’t too heavy and didn’t make my skin feel oily or greasy. Amala claims this regimen will produce firmer skin within four weeks and over all better texture in eight weeks, but even after a few days my skin had a nice vibrant sheen and was noticeably softer.
